Protected Geographical Indication

(PGI) CODRU is located in the central part of the country, covering 130 thousand acres of vineyards. Codru has a fragmented relief of valleys, dales and many small rivers. The oak and linden forests account for 25% of the territory, influencing the micro-climate of the region. It is favorable for growing white varieties (Feteasca Alba, Muscat, Traminer, Chardonnay, etc.) for white wines, fine reds and sparkling wines.

Sea level: 200 to 900 ft

 

The famous underground wine cellars Cricova, as well as partner wineries, Chateau Vartely and Vinaria din Vale, are located in this region.
