ET CETERA WINERY

Own vine plantations: 124 acres.

PGI Stefan Voda

Annual wine production: 8,000 cases

EtCetera Winery was started by two brothers, Alexandru and Igor Luchianov, when they returned to their native village in Moldova after spending many years working on US Cruise ships.

They returned home to follow their passion — winemaking. Self-educated in winemaking from the internet, in 2003, Luchianov brothers planted their first vines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Traminer, and Chardonnay. Later, a large parcel of the vineyard was dedicated to indigenous Moldovan varieties such as Feteasca Neagra, Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala, and Rara Neagra. Today, the Luchianovs own 124 acres of vines.

The brothers opened EtCetera Winery in 2009 and now produce 8,000 cases annually. Many of these cases are sold out of their wine tourism based operation with a restaurant located on the property. Other key customers are restaurant chains in Moldova and neighboring countries, as well as private collectors.

The story of EtCetera wine begins in the spring, with awakening vines, and continues through to the harvest and vinification in late fall. The entire family works with passion in the vineyard making sure that each cluster enjoys a special care. Only the best grapes make it to fermentation, and into wines of unique Moldovan character. At EtCetera Winery, the Luchianovs have reinvented the perfect blend of Moldovan family tradition and modern winemaking techniques.
